A Summary of Recent Research
Research on adult ADHD has grown tremendously in the past 10 years. In 2008, groundbreaking work on ADHD in adults, was published by researchers Russell Barkley, Kevin Murphy, and Mariellen Fischer (ADHD in Adults: What the Science Says). Yet, there is still a lot of misinformation about ADHD in adults.
Want to know what science says about ADHD in adults? This presentation will summarize research over the past 10 years from a neuropsychological perspective and will discuss the implications for ADHD assessment and treatment. Information will be presented in a consumer-friendly format, with time allowed for questions.
Presenter: Robert L. Mapou, Ph.D., ABPP-CN, is a nationally-recognized board-certified clinical neuropsychologist and author of the book Adult Learning Disabilities and ADHD: Research-Informed Assessment, just published by Oxford University Press. He is in private practice with William Stixrud, Ph.D. and Associates, in Silver Spring, MD and specializes in evaluating adults and older adolescents with learning disabilities and ADHD. He also provides consultation to clients who have applied for but have been turned down for accommodations on standardized tests. He holds faculty appointments at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and Georgetown University School of Medicine.
