Coping with ADHD and/or Learning Difficulties at work is sometimes difficult but can sometimes be profitable.

The ADHD workplace support group provides adults opportunity to discuss work-related concerns and information dealing with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in the workplace.

No Cost •  Open to all • Everyone is welcome

There is no obligation to purchase refreshments, although HOPPING down to IHOP you can enjoy great coffee, soda, pancakes, sandwiches, etc.

By attending our discussion group you learn and share how others cope at work and get ideas which can make your daily work experiences more rewarding. All this is done in an informal atmosphere which respects all participants’ confidences. New participants are welcome.

About this talk:

How adults react to the behaviors specific to ADHD makes a difference in whether a child becomes oppositional or not. This seminar will discuss executive functioning as it affects daily living such as getting up in the morning, doing chores, staying at the dinner table, doing homework, etc. We will also problem-solve some ways to have interactions go more smoothly.

About this speaker:

Barbara Howard, M.D. is a Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrician, Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and on the Faculty of Franklin Square Pediatrics.
Dr. Howard serves on the Professional Advisory Board of CHADD of Greater Baltimore. She is the creator of CHADIS.

Diagnosis and Treatment of Mood Disorders in Children and Adolescents

About this talk:

Dr. Reeves will overview the early signs of mood disorders in children and adolescents and steps that parents can take to get appropriate assessment and treatment for their child.

She will discuss treatment strategies, including medication options, and appropriate therapeutic supports. She will provide information on current studies at the University of Maryland that may benefit your child.

About this speaker:

Dr. Reeves is a Board Certified Child Psychiatrist and the medical director of the mood and trauma disorders clinics at the University of Maryland Child Psychiatry Department. She also conducts clinical research related to the treatment of mood disorders in children and the metabolic side effects of antipsychotic/mood stabilizer medications. She is the principal investigator in a NIH sponsored multisite study on weight loss with children/adolescents with obesity related to antipsychotic medication use.

About the Speaker:

Dr. Silver, THRIVE’s director, feels that experiences he had with finding good care for two of his daughters with ADHD shaped the approaches he uses at THRIVE. “A comprehensive treatment plan, one that incorporates medication, coaching, self-care, grounding and support for the family, is the only effective way to deal with a potentially life-altering condition like ADHD. It’s also very important for the treatment team members to work closely together and coordinate their work with the patient.”
