About this talk:

Dr. Tankard will present ideas and strategies for parenting from a well-regarded model of parenting. Central to the Adlerian approach is to see the personality as a whole and not as the mere net result of component forces. The presentation will cover the purpose of parenting, the reasons and ways children commonly misbehave, the three most important skills children need to learn to thrive in a democratic society, and how parents can help their children learn these skills.

About this speaker:

Dr. Tankard is a licensed psychologist in Maryland. She completed her Predoctoral Internship in 2004 at the Kennedy Krieger Institute (KKI) with rotations in family therapy and neuropsychology. After her internship in 2004, Dr. Tankard continued as staff at the KKI Child and Family Therapy Clinic and, in 2007, received a faculty appointment there through the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. At KKI, she provided assessment and therapeutic services for families with youths experiencing behavioral, cognitive, social, emotional, educational, and medical difficulties. Dr. Tankard began her own practice in 2011 and she currently provides psycho-educational assessments and therapeutic services for children, teenagers, and young adults. For more information, please visit drtankard.com
